Take Your Workforce to New Heights With a Learning Management Solution

Learning management solutions (LMSs) are designed to help organizations deliver, manage and track training and education. Investing in an LMS can significantly enhance an organization’s workforce wellbeing by supporting their employee value proposition (EVP) and the employer brand. The use of an LMS can empower employees with the skills and confidence needed to excel in their roles, fostering a positive work environment and promoting career wellbeing.

Christina Andrews, Senior Director of Professional Services at Axxess, and Ryan Klaustermeier, MSN, RN, Vice President of Professional Services at Axxess, share how an LMS can attract talent, boost employee engagement and promote career development among employees.

Recruitment and Onboarding

Andrews emphasizes that organizations should look to an LMS to improve the employee training experience, paying special attention to their approach to onboarding. When employees feel a high level of trust during the onboarding process, they organically create and lead an employee referral program. These employees are more likely to speak positively about their experience with their employer.

“When you have a learning management solution as a part of what you’re offering your employees or team members, you’re creating an ease-of-use environment, which automatically becomes more comfortable, more adaptable and just overall [more] appealing to someone,” Klaustermeier added.

Andrews also notes that organizations that maximize this organic approach to employee recruitment often see lower hiring and recruitment costs.

“71% of employees use or have used referrals from an organization’s current employee pool to learn about job opportunities,” Andrews shared.

Technology is also an important recruitment factor organizations should consider. Andrews highlights that organizations that invest in technological tools can increase productivity by 18% and can enhance speed to productivity by two weeks. Focusing on productivity enhancement leads to lasting employee wellbeing and satisfaction.

Klaustermeier echoed this sentiment, adding, “I think not only is it a matter of investing in technology, but it’s a matter of investing in good technology, the right technology.”

“The best technology is going to pay for itself in spades by way of retention,” Klaustermeier said.

Workforce Wellbeing

Andrews shares that employees are moving away from the idea of work-life balance and are instead focusing more on work-life fit, finding a balance between work and personal life that leads to mutual benefit and success in both.

She notes that workload has a stronger influence on burnout than the total amount of hours worked, and that the quality of the work experience affects employees more than the number of days or hours worked. A robust LMS can help drive the quality of the work experience and help improve the worth of a role to employees.

“An LMS solution is designed to build competencies, providing your team with the confidence they need to execute their job with the highest level of quality,” Andrews shared.

“Technology and learning management solutions allow for yet another mechanism for engagement and for employees to contribute to decision-making processes,” Klaustermeier added.

Klaustermeier noted that the use of an LMS and technology promotes knowledge sharing, enabling employees to feel empowered and confident to share what they’ve learned, and contributes to the health and wellbeing of the workforce.

“In general, people like to share things that they’ve learned; the student becomes the teacher,” Klaustermeier added. “Technology can create platforms for individuals to knowledge share, which I think is highly valuable.”

Career Development

Opportunities for career development and progression are important to employees. Andrews advises that organizations consider moving away from the classic career ladder approach and instead adopt a career lattice approach, giving employees the freedom to move in multiple directions within a company.

Andrews adds that investing in programs like Axxess Training and Certification+ can help support this type of career development.

“Technology allows for the creation of personalized learning paths,” Klaustermeier added. “So, you can focus on goals and then the performance and skillset assessments that align with that and digitize all of that.”
