Annual Compliance Training in Care at Home

While they are a key component in healthcare, many compliance training programs can feel outdated, disengaging and nonproductive. However, it’s possible to overcome those challenges when you’re working with the right partner.

Christina Andrews, Senior Director of Professional Services at Axxess and Tony Meluzio, MA, BS, PTA, Senior Content Manager at Axxess, discussed why organizations should leverage technology that enables them to scale compliance training.

Compliance Training

Compliance training is critical to improving quality of care and reducing liability.

“Compliance in itself may seem less than enjoyable, but the fact is, when employees really understand the foundations, the quality of care they delivered, the reputation in their community, that liability and risk, it all improves,” said Meluzio.

By understanding the foundations, healthcare organizations can become the preferred providers in their communities with knowledgeable and competent staff.

Meluzio highlighted the compliance scrutiny some organizations are facing, including areas such as HIPAA breaches and security challenges.

“Surveyors in various accreditation agencies and organizations really scrutinize the area of compliance. And I think with HIPAA breaches and safety challenges, they really should be,” said Meluzio.

Leverage Technology

Leveraging technology provides an adaptive approach to compliance training.

“Axxess’ Training and Certification+ focuses on improving the learner’s experience by leveraging the latest in educational science with adaptive microlearning content, videos, infographics and much more,” said Meluzio.

He emphasized the value of the flexible, self-paced learning that Axxess Training and Certification+ provides.

“They [lessons] can be taken anywhere, anytime, and on any technology device,” said Meluzio. “That’s really critical to the way the workforce is managing themselves these days.”

Meluzio explained that by using Training and Certification+, organizations can be confident that their employees are knowledgeable and have met the training requirements for compliance.

“We have to continue to utilize technology to engage employees today and in the future with that flexibility,” said Andrews. “This allows organizations to prioritize annual compliance training to maintain a culture of compliance while reducing risk and allowing them to provide quality patient care.”

Anyone can create an Axxess Training and Certification Program+ account, giving them access to all certifications, continuing education and training courses across service lines. Together we will elevate care at home.
