The Axxess Hackathon is a 30-hour weekend event focusing on Healthcare Innovation. This event encourages students to be innovative and think creatively through multiple challenges. Student attendees form teams of up to four members and work on a select challenge. Students are encouraged to build apps, propose new technology approaches and more. Students at all levels and all majors are welcomed and encouraged to attend. The world is run by cross disciplinary teams and students from different backgrounds can find great success through collaboration.
Support student experiential learning focusing on Healthcare Innovation. Students will develop CS and non-CS student skills through hacking challenges. It is great practice to work in teams to tackle a problem at this event, as you would as a full-time employee after graduation. Students also have the opportunity to network with company contacts, learn through workshops and showcase their ideas developed throughout the event.
The Axxess Hackathon is an opportunity to learn more about the Healthcare Industry and dive into ideas to improve the delivery, data capture, or efficiency of care. Everyone is impacted by our health. The vast healthcare industry is an aggregation and integration of sectors within the economic system that provides goods and services to treat patients with curative, preventive, rehabilitative, and palliative care.
Anyone can sign up to participate as a hacker at the Axxess Hackathon. While most Hackathon participants tend to be computer science majors, we welcome students from other majors to join us.
The 2023 Axxess Hackathon is Saturday, April 1, to Sunday, April 2. The in person event takes place in the Engineering and Computer Science West (ECSW) building at the University of Texas at Dallas. Check in and meals will be on the first floor in the Axxess Atrium.
No. The Axxess Hackathon is open to all majors and experience levels and would be the perfect place to work on your first project. Mentors and training workshops are available to support beginners. In addition to coding, teams will thrive with creativity and innovative ideas from students of all backgrounds.

Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate anyone below the age of 18.
All projects must begin at the Axxess Hackathon, but you are welcome to consider project ideas prior to the day of the event. Projects can range from solving personal, social, or business challenges through new, altered and innovative technologies.
The Axxess Hackathon is free! The hacker experience includes food, drinks, snacks, and event swag, which will be handed out to attendees during the event.
Teams at the Axxess Hackathon can have up to four members. If you do not have a team, you can either work individually or form teams the day of the hackathon by meeting fellow hackers on the Discord or during team building events.
Registration closes on Monday, March 27.
The Axxess Hackathon will not be providing hardware, but we encourage you to use online hardware simulators.
We will provide lunch and dinner on Saturday and Breakfast and lunch on Sunday. We are planning for over 60% vegetarian meals.
You are welcome to sleep at the Axxess Hackathon. The event will take place throughout the Engineering West Building. If you plan to stay overnight, bring all your necessities including pillows, blankets, and chargers.
